2026 Council Leadership Team Elections - Nominate

Desired General Leadership Qualities for Nominees

  • Ability to listen and analyze, as well as think strategically and creatively
  • Ability to consider multiple viewpoints and work well with people individually and in a group
  • Ability to make decisions based on information and science rather than opinion
  • Willingness to learn more about the Association, be prepared for, attend, and actively participate in CLT meetings, and take responsibility for duties as assigned
  • Display personal integrity, honesty, sensitivity to, and tolerance of differing views

Responsibilities

All CLT members

  1. Attend and actively participate in all meetings of the CLT
  2. Become knowledgeable about the mission and strategic goals of the Association
  3. Provide a recommendation to Council on all motions brought before Council for its consideration
  4. Regularly review the structure and function of Council (including orientation of new members) and handle complaints about Council functions and operations
  5. Lead Council in reviewing and revising the strategic plan and ensure that APA policies are aligned with APA’s mission and strategic plan

CLT Chair

In addition to the responsibilities of all CLT members listed above:

  1. Preside over all meetings of the CLT
  2. Review CLT meeting minutes
  3. Attend and participate in Board of Directors meetings, retreats, and conference calls
  4. Attend meetings to the boards and committees to which they liaison
  5. Facilitate communications between CLT and Council members

CLT Chair-Elect

In addition to the responsibilities of all CLT members listed above:

  1. Attend and participate in Board of Directors meetings, retreats, and conference calls
  2. Attend meetings to the boards and committees to which they liaison

Given the increased workload of service on both CLT and the Board of Directors, the Chair and Chair-Elect of CLT have an annual honorarium of $16,500.


Eligibility

Council members shall nominate 2024 Council members who have served at least one year on Council. Members may not serve simultaneously on CLT and another board/committee.

Note that a nomination poll has been sent to all candidates to assess whether they have interest in being nominated for the specific slate. You can see each candidate's interest in the "Candidate Interest" column.
